The Western Heritage Center, based on recommendations from the Yellowstone County Unified Health Command and the CDC, is temporarily closing starting Saturday, March 14. All of our public programs and receptions are postponed through March and April. Physical distancing is a critical measure to reducing the spread of Covid-19. The health and safety of our visitors, volunteers, staff, and neighbors is our top priority.

Full-time museum staff is present at the museum creating two new traveling exhibits (Vietnam Voices and Ethel Hays), developing new public programs, and working on two national register nominations for Yellowstone County (McKinley School and the Billings mausoleum). Our staff is available to answer research questions: 406-256-6809

As soon as we re-open our doors, we look forward to welcoming you, your family, and those who love Montana history.

Until then, be composed, educate yourself with reliable resources, be kind to one another.
