Hollywood Montana Style

What do the movies Lonesome Dove, The Horse Whisperer and A River Runs Through Ithave in common? They are stories about Montana, filmed in Montana. Come celebrate Montana storytelling with a Hollywood spin as the Western Heritage Center presents the annual Hollywood Montana Style fundraiser on September 9.

Go Hollywood Montana Style and ward off the paparazzi as you enter the world of Hollywood, with a distinct Montana spin. You’ll enjoy a great meal while listening to Wally Kurth, producer of Montana basketball documentary, Class C, and a feature actor on popular ABC daytime drama Days of our Lives. Kurth will regale us with his adventures in filmmaking and acting in Montana and Hollywood. You’ll have the opportunity to bid on fabulous silent auction items, knowing that you are helping the Western Heritage Center tell the story of Billings and the Yellowstone River Valley through exhibitions, community programs and educational outreach.

Hoof-it with a Historian: Downtown Billings

Discover Billings! Join the weekly walking tour of downtown Billings and experience the sights and sounds of present day Billings, while a community historian shares insights and illustrates with historic photos from the Western Heritage Center archive. Explore the founding of Billings as a railroad town, examine architecture - old and new, discuss why the city is configured the way that it is, and interpret ghost signs still visible. This one hour tour, beginning at 11:45 each Friday at the Western Heritage Center, will interest both long-time Billings residents and visitors alike! See you downtown!

Tickets are available at the Western Heritage Center (2822 Montana Avenue): $10 for adults, $5 for students, children (under 12) are free. This one hour guided walking tour culminates with a pass to the Western Heritage Center. For more information, call 406-256-6809.
